Our Goals for 2022

Hello!

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates! We're taking some time off over the next couple weeks to rest and enjoy time with friends and family. We definitely encourage you to do the same if you are able to!

Before our break, we sat down to go through all of next year and set goals for what we want to achieve. This is something that we've done every year and we really think that this is a huge reason why our business has grown and we've accomplished some of the things that we have.

We use our goals as a measuring stick throughout the year, tracking our progress every month as we go. Our goals help us make decisions and know how to spend our time throughout the year because we can ask ourselves if that specific task or decision will help us accomplish what we want. They also help us to see where we are doing well and where we need to improve as well as give us a reason to celebrate.

We recommend taking some time over the next couple weeks to look back on the past year and think about where you want to be at the end of 2022. Set some large goals and then break them into smaller goals so you know what next steps to take. Make sure that your goals are measurable so you can track them. For example, instead of saying "I want to increase my revenue," say, "I want to make $50,000" next year.

I wanted to share with you the kinds of goals that we set so to hopefully give you some ideas that you can implement into your own business. Every business is different so I'm sure not all of this will apply to everyone, but hopefully it inspires you a little!

FINANCIAL GOALS

Total Revenue Per Month - We have an overarching goal that we want to make financially each month. We choose this number by looking at our expenses the last year and setting a budget for ourselves, taking into consideration taxes, our salary, and emergency savings. We set a goal for the year and then divide by 12 to get our monthly goal. While some months make more or less, it should average to this number. After we set that goal, we break it down even more by figuring out how we will achieve it through all our revenue streams. We set goals for what we want to earn in each of those streams to add up to our goal and then write out how we will accomplish those. See below:

There you have it! Our goals for 2022. We'll take all of the measurable goals and put them into a spreadsheet that we can track each month. One thing that is helpful is to set specific deadlines for main goals and then deadlines for the smaller tasks needed to meet those bigger goals. It's also ok to be realistic with yourself, we realized that we took on too much last year so this year we scaled back a little, cut out some things that weren't as important and set goals that were a little more doable.

Feel free to share some of your goals in Slack, I'll add a question to the business channel so we can keep ourselves accountable. And don't forget to celebrate! Reward yourself for hitting both large and small goals to keep yourself motivated along the way.

I'm excited to see what you all accomplish in the new year! Thank you so much for being a part of this community!

Is it the weekend yet?
