BTS Stoggles

Happy Friday all! I'm typing and saying hi to you all from sunny Los Angeles because I'm headed to Coachella for the weekend. I hope you all have some fun plans ahead and get to enjoy the weather. We're back with another fun BTS post and this time we're sharing some behind-the-scenes from our shoot with Stoggles, a stylish protective eyewear brand. We've actually worked with them twice now and I realized that we hadn't done a BTS post for them for the first shoot and so I'm going to be breaking down both shoots in this post today and the challenges we came across in each shoot. Let's dive in, shall we?

One of our very early clients (when our business was fresh and new haha) was actually an eyewear brand called JINS. It was actually really great that we had started out with such an intense product to shoot with because it really helped us to understand how to shoot glasses so as to avoid any glare/reflections. Having that previous knowledge proved to be super useful when working with Stoggles and we were so appreciative of that. Stoggles came to us wanting some fresh and new vibrant content to replace some of the imagery on their site and to use on social media. Because we were working with a variety of colors and eyewear shapes the first time around, we kept our sets and props pretty neutral so we could really highlight the products. Elle made this magical textured set that was made out of some roofing or construction material that she found at the hardware store and we spray painted our trusty Moodelier props to heighten some of the products. We worked with one model for the first shoot and she was so easy to work with. Professional models are hands down one of the best investments to make when you're shooting commercial work. For a few of the stills we had planned, we used some fishing line to help us balance all the products and it worked out great.

One of the issues we ran into with the first shoot is that there was one particular GIF that we had planned for that was sort of tricky because of the dimensions and how we were going to photograph it. I think it's important to realize that just because Photoshop exists, doesn't mean the outcome will come together like you want it to because you can just "photoshop it." Always keep in mind that it's easier to get it right in camera than taking so much time to fix it later. Other than that, we were super pleased with the results and you can view some of the final images on our site right now! See below for some of the BTS of our first shoot and keep on reading for shoot #2.

For our second shoot with Stoggles, they had two new eyewear shapes they were announcing and so we were tasked to create content to highlight each shape. The second time around, we were working with a lot more colors so we really went all out to shoot with different painted particle boards and various painted props. It was so much fun and I'm so sad to say that we didn't even capture any BTS of the 4 models we hired for this particular project. We had some group shots as well as some single shots with each of the models in different colors and eye shapes.

One of my favorite things about this shoot was how cohesive and colorful it was. However, even though this was my favorite part, I realized that while we were editing, that a lot of of the glasses that were light colored like the light pink or clear would often get overshadowed by whatever color was on the background and so that was something that we managed to avoid in the first shoot by having everything neutral. I think for this reason, a lot of see through glasses often get shot against neutral colors to best highlight the glass color. Overall, it was a fun shoot where we got to play with shape and color. See below for some BTS images from that second shoot!

Well that's all folks! I hope you guys enjoyed this BTS post and we can't wait to share more posts soon. :)

Is it the weekend yet?
