Resource Roundup: 3 Domestika Courses

Hi all! My apologies for getting this post out a couple of days late. I'm sure you guys have noticed by now but we've been a little quiet over the last few months. Aside from Elle's wedding (which was beautiful btw!!!) and our time off, Elle and I have both experienced some major life events that have shaken us up quite a bit. For that reason, it's been a bit difficult to focus on work. With that being said, we're slowly starting to get back into things (and by slowly, I mean SLOWLY haha) so please forgive us for our delayed responses. We truly appreciate you all for being in this community and for keeping conversations going even if we're not able to respond right away. Don't worry, we're not going anywhere! It's just a slight transitional period as we get our bearings straight. :)

Anyway, I thought it would be great for me to share a little resource roundup of some new courses that have popped up recently that we've either personally taken or have peaked our interest and will likely invest in for ourselves. You guys know how much we love Domestika and they're legit pumping out classes on the daily so of course I had to share some of the new ones I've seen that could be super beneficial to you guys. So keep on reading for all the deets.

*Please note: Since I'm not able to add multiple videos in one post, I've linked the title of each course so that you can watch the trailer and find out more!*

Commercial Photography: Find Your Authentic Style

Ok, we've been fans of Aleksandra Kingo for like EVER and we freaked out when we saw that she had a course with Domestika. We ended up purchasing it ourselves because #supportothercreatives and also because there's always something to learn from others and we particularly love Aleksandra's course because it focuses on figuring out what your style is as it relates to commercial work. We're often working with such a variety of clients that having a "style" can be a daunting thing to think about especially when you're first getting started so we really recommend this to any beginner out there that's just dipping their toes in this industry. Plus, Aleksandra really is KING (o)! Haha. I couldn't help myself with that pun...

Professional Set Design for Product Photography

While we haven't taken this course yet, watching the trailer was such a burst of creativity. We love this creative's way of using different elements to create these beautiful still lifes. One of the reasons I was immediately drawn to this course is the fact that Mireia Ruiz goes through some of her tips and techniques for set ideation and construction. There's nothing more soothing than seeing someone work with their hands to create super unique backdrops. We recommend this course for anyone wanting to learn more about set design and spray painting props. *Adds to cart*

Conceptual Product Photography for Advertising

Lastly but certainly not least is this product photography class by Tibor Galamb which is all about coming up with unique concepts for advertising photography. When it comes to ads, you want work that's going to be attention-grabbing and that's always hard to do when it feels like you're out of ideas. Tibor goes through his process of coming up with fun (and new) ways to present products in a series of images and stop motion in order to communicate a message.

So there you have it folks! Let us know if you do end up taking any of the courses and if you've got a resource that you'd like to share, post it up on Slack! :)

Is it the weekend yet?
